Question Cross compile Win32->Linux

Hi guys, first of all excuse my ignorance

I'm trying to compile a version of qwsv (quakeWorld server) for linux under windows. This is, i need it to run on linux (remote comp) but need to compile in my own comp, under windows98se.

I have cygwin, and gcc runs fine if i do put cygwin1.dll and required files on same dir as gcc. I still havent tried many things but it seems to try to link libraries for a windows exe, how do i configure gcc to compile for linux?

Is the gcc.exe that comes with cygwin able to compile for native linux? if not, how do i do that?

Help please!
