Creation of device node for sound

Hi Friends,
How I can I create a device node in /dev/snd for sound card?(ALSA Specific). In case of an operating system it will automatically create the device file when the system boots up(I think so). I am looking for a code, may be a configuration file or a sample c program, that can create a dev file in /dev/snd. If I run MAKEDEV, it will create a lot of device file and using the sound specific file I can play a song. But Unfortunately I was not able to find any program to create sound dev file.

Regards,
Arun.S

mknod is the program that creates devices but you need to know what numbers to give it. Assuming you remember the output of "ls -l" on your device you can write a mknod command to recreate that one device.
