Creating text file with screen shots

In windows you can create a RTF (rich text formatted document) that you can add text and embed pictures.

I a looking to create instructions for someone and embed screen shots.
What is the Linux equivalent?

Thanks

Use Open Office. It does what MS-Office does but better.

Take screenshots with KSnapshot (hope you are running KDE). Save them as JPG. Insert them in your document.

Have a look at OpenOffice Draw as well. It is not just a drawing program, but a very powerful document editor indeed. If you emphasis is on the pictures, use this. Text editing is powerful enough.
