Arrow Creating backup

hi!!! all,

I will be happy if u try to explin me the way to create
a seperate partision for backing my files (May not be the
system files) ...How to go about it???

Please explain me in detail ...I m a newbie

You should create that backup partition before installation of linux. In that case fdisk or cfdisk would help u (see man pages for details). If u have already installed system u can try something like Partition Magic but its a commercial software.
About the backup itself, rsync could be the good choice imo.
