creating an iso?

hiya all,

Almost too embarrassed to ask but.......I have a Mepis install cd and thought I would copy it. I did just that as a data copy but it will not boot. Then tried to copy as an iso but got lost when my burn application asked for the iso file - there doesn't seem to be one. I'm patently wrong but a tad confused. Hey hum......any advice?

Thanks !

Yes, dd does the trick.
Example for making a disk image of a floppy:
dd if=/dev/fd0 of=floppy.img
Example for making a CD disk image:
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=cdrom.iso

You do need to know your own device file names and check documentation if anything special is needed.
