create an iso image
hello all...
I have an HP C7000 chasis with 5 blades. We have a known good, secure version of RHEL 5.6 on one of the blades. My question is, can I make a "golden iso image" from that running o.s. to install on 2 of the other blades? If so, how can I do that? Thanks |

Also, since you're using RHEL, why don't you call RedHat? You're paying for support, right? |
I am wondering if it isn't a copyright violation?
|
@Tb0ne - I downloaded a trial version while our procurement people get things in order so we can pay for and activate a subscription. So until they cut the check, I don't have RHEL support.
@jefro - it's not a copyright issue b/c I am going to register each system to RHN (which is being payed for). I just need to make sure my os's are the same. |
It's also not copyright, because RHEL is still Linux, and is GPL'd. Only the branding is trademarked, and the support is paid for. See CentOS.

Not exactly true. If RedHat were free like you suggest then we'd see cd's available from places like http://shop.cheapbytes.com/cgi-bin/cart
Redhat is a protected disto and unless you do build it from sources only like Scientific it contains copyrighted material and contains non-gpl code and copyrighted artwork and images. If you want a gpl version then you have to go with centros or similar clones like pink tie or whiteglove. You try offering their cd's and see how long it takes to get a letter from them. |
Well, yeah, in CentOS they had to remove all of that copyrighted and trademarked stuff and non-GPL'd code.

Gosh, now my post seems harsh. Sorry.
