creat samba share for DVD player?

i have a dvd player in my debian box that i want to share out to my windows box how would i go about that?

the mount point is /media/cdrom1

i sort of know how to get samba to share the /home/user directory, but that really is the limit to my samba skills.

To smb.conf file add:
Code:
[DVD]
	comment = DVD on %L
	path = /media/cdrom1
	guest ok = yes

thank you, that fixed some of my problem, now just to get the permissions right. when i try to chmod or chown it gives me a bunch of BS errors about it being a read only system and i want to get rx to everyone as it is not a burner and is only for local use.

Code:
media:~# chmod 777 /media/cdrom1
chmod: changing permissions of `/media/cdrom1': Read-only file system
and

Code:

media:~#
so now what do i do?

edit to add:

Code:
media:~# ls -l /media/cdrom1
total 28660
-r-xr-xr-x  1 root root       32 Jul 18  2002 autorun.inf
dr-xr-xr-x  1 root root      604 Jul 18  2002 ice_age_mac
-r-xr-xr-x  1 root root 21774867 Jul 18  2002 ice_age_pc.exe
-r-xr-xr-x  1 root root  7566819 Jul 18  2002 printables.exe
-r-xr-xr-x  1 root root     1004 Jul 18  2002 readme.txt
dr-xr-xr-x  1 root root     2318 Jul 18  2002 video_ts
so as you can see it A. did not change to 777 wrx permissions, and it did not change the ownership to ray as it was TOLD by root. so how do i beat this system into submission to do as it is told?

if i can set permissions on the local system for this device to be accessable for the user, why can i not set permissions for a remote computer to gain at least rx permissions to play a video via the LAN over this DVD player?

what do i need to do to beat this system into submission to do as i want it to do?

I don't I fully understand your question. Access to DVD/CD is always Read Only. So it's normal to get those messages.
If you write to your smb.conf those lines I suggested in my previous reply ANY user accesing via Samba wil have read permissions for files and read/enter for directories and will be able to watch DVD.
At least I think so.
