Crazy Mac OS X F9 hotkey in KDE?

Does anyone know how to get KDE to do the crazy hide all windows, Mac OSX F9 thing? It's really awesome. The F11 - show me all the windows on my desktop thing is cool too. Not very important, just cool.

Thanks,
-Peter

Actually, I think that you have the Mac OS X shortcuts reversed

f9 - is the neat view that shows you all of the running applications

f11 - takes you back to the desktop.

As for KDE, I do not know of a default option that matches OS X's f9 shortcut, but I beleive that 'Ctrl-Alt-D' will take you to the desktop. For a few more KDE shortcuts take a look at:

That's awesome! For onlookers: the reverse works as well (press control+alt+D again and all your windows fly back). I guess I'll have to wait for the snazzy "see all windows" hotkey, or program it when I learn C/C++. Thanks.

Yeah, the 'Ctrl-Alt-D' is a handy shortcut (works in GNOME as well).

You got me thinking of the expose (the function that handles the neat f9 function), so I poked around breifly and came across references to kompose, here is write up on this linux tool.

It might be worht taking a closer look at for those using KDE.

Ok, now that's cool like nobody's business. It's not as "eye-candy-ish" as the OS X expose, as you called it, but it'll do just fine. Thanks again.

P.S. I try to put a "noob simplification message" in my posts, so here it is. To get kompose to work, install it and then run it. You won't see anything popup. Then press Ctrl+Shift+J or Ctrl+Shift+I. The first time it exposes the windows, it'll take a second to open all your minimized windows, but then it will go faster. When you select a window, all the minimized windows will return to being minimized, except of course for the one you selected (if it was minimized in the first place).

Kompose looks awsome!

It is slower than Expose on the mac, but I like the ability to switch between desktops.

One thing though - on the Mac, pressing F9 again makes the desktop go back to normal. Anyone know how to do this with Kompose? To close Kompose, I have to click on a window and I would rather be able to press Ctrl-Shift-I again to close it.

Thanks
