Question Cpu speed control program ?

I am running Linux mint 17 cinnamon 64 bit on a Asus A55V Notebook which origially had a program to control Cpu speed from office (low) Media (Medium) Gaming (High)

Anyone know where i can get a program for above Linux to do the same?

Thanks

Are you thinking of CPU frequency scaling?

Take a look at these two articles and see if they help you do what you want:

* HowTo - CpuFrequencyScaling (Debian)

* How to Change CPU Frequency in Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and Elementary OS

I tried this in mate and cinnamon, the post is for mate, should work in cinnamon as well, add 5 second to delay to start, this is only in cinnamon options, this helps give time for cinnamon and the panel to load and settle in

i installed synaptic package manager, searched for indicator-cpufreq, if i remember correctly is should be in software manager in mint, you can search and install it from there without synaptic..
once it is installed, it should be located in
control center - startup applications highlight it and click edit.
add setsid to the beginning of the command box, click save log out and back in and you should be able to see the new icon by the volume area, hope this helps

PS... you can test this also in terminal, command in terminal> setsid indicator-cpufreq
if you use the command without setsid, the icon will appear in the panel..BUT..
when you close terminal so will the icon and program
if you use setsid indicator-cpufreq in terminal, icon will appear on panel and you can close terminal

let me know how it works out....Peace..

hmm, i already saw this somewhere today, i'll say it again:
if you're not a kernel hacker, you shouldn't worry about cpu frequency scaling.
the kernel takes care of it dynamically (or maybe even the cpu itself?). there is no need for manual intervention (unless you're running a live media editing/playback setup where latency is of the utmost importance).
