I am trying to compile Apache 2 (among other things) on debian etch, but I can't seem to get past this error:
Code:
APR Version: 1.2.7
checking for chosen layout... apr
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out
checking whether the C compiler works... yes
checking whether we are cross compiling... no
checking for suffix of executables...
checking for suffix of object files... o
checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking for gcc option to accept ANSI C... none needed
Applying APR hints file rules for i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1
setting CPPFLAGS to "-DLINUX=2"
adding "-D_REENTRANT" to CPPFLAGS
adding "-D_GNU_SOURCE" to CPPFLAGS
(Default will be unix)
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking how to run the C preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
See `config.log' for more details.
configure failed for srclib/apr
My config.log tells me nothing useful that I can see, but here it is anyways...
Note sure what I am missing here

BTW, I keep seeing that people are referring to a package called gcc-c++, but there is not one available in apt, nor can I find one on the internet... I have found RPM packages, but even so, none that match my cpp version which is 4.1.1-5.
Is this package what I need for debian as well? If so, where can I find it... Seems like something so basic would be provided by debian.
