Hi there

I need to install some perl modules to get awstats working but when I try to launch cpan by using #perl -MCPAN -e 'shell' or #perl -eshell -MCPAN

i get

Can't locate in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0 .).
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted.

I am running RH9 and my perl version is v5.8.0

I also searched the entire disk for a file called, but nothing

does anybody know how I can get cpan itself installed so that i can start downloading perl modules

any help would be greatly appreciated

you can get the source for cpan from any cpan mirror like
perl Makefile.PL, make, make test, make install

it may help to have

before you install cpan

as you know perl modules can be a bit tricky

i use this package all the time to help see whats going on with perl modules
