Thumbs down cp input/output error.

Hi,I m using debian 3.1r1,with own compiled kernel 2.6.16.14
working good.the problem exist with cd reading.I have a vcd in my hand, getting trouble to play in xine,mplayer,totem..
Even i can not copy it.even i can not "dd" it.
The same cd is working in windows XP.I can copy them to my HDD.the result while i try to copy is that..
#cp /cdrom/mpgav/movie1.avi /root
cp: input/output error

#mplayer /cdrom/mpgav/movie.avi

seek file failed..

The one more notable thing is,This is the only cd not working..I have lot of linux cd's like ubuntu they are able to "dd" or copy..what is the problem with this only vcd.
how can windows opened it...Is something problem with "ide-cd" drive???

Help me out of this.
