Question Couple of Q's before I start using KDE

I'm about to put together my a linux box to use as my primary machine. My choice is to use Debian 3 but with KDE instead of Gnome. My questions are as follows:

1) Can KDE run apps like Evolution which are traditionally used on Gnome?

2) What's with the naming convention with KDE? I know things like Konquerer and Kmail are Open Source, but the level of coordination that exists makes me a little nervous..

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance!

1) So long as you have the library files installed, you can run both QT (KDE) and GTK (Gnome) apps from any GUI.

2) What do you mean?
