couldnt able to run games


hi i am a newbie to Linux, i have recently installed fedora core 5 x86_64 edition on my AMD 2800+ and Asus K8V-VIA motherboard. the installation went fine and i could able to run all the programs except that when i tried to run 3D games such as 3D chess and Cannon smash, it simply wouldn't run, rest of the games work very fine ,my Display devices in genome system recognised all the motherboard and monitor, i have no problems running 3D games in windows. i don have a video card i am using shared memory out of my 512Mb
kindly help me

3D games typically require hardware acceleration to be playable, and it sounds like you don't have it. I don't know what graphics card your computer has, but it's likely that hardware acceleration can be enabled with the right driver. If you need help, posting the contents of your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file would be useful.

Hmm, it says direct rendering is enabled; that's good. Try running:

You should see framerates of at least a few hundred frames per second (it prints this every 5 secs, so let it run for a little while). If you don't, run

Okay, so you do have hardware-accelerated OpenGL. That's good. There must be some other problem. The games that don't work, don't they give you some kind of error message? What if you run them from a console?
