Common problem, I've even had this issue before. Usually caused by a package not installed.

When installing giftd:

checking for lt_dlopen in -lltdl... no
configure: error:
*** Couldn't find ltdl library. If it is installed in a non-standard
*** location, please supply --with-ltdl=DIR on the configure command line,
*** where `DIR' is the prefix where ltdl is installed (such as /usr,
*** /usr/local, or /usr/pkg). If that doesn't work, check config.log.

It doesn't find a libltdl.so file. but if I try to create even a symbolic link I get:

Oddly enough, this fixed itself after the last update. I noticed that a related package librsvg2 (I had a duplicate that had to be removed rather violently - see post: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=499824)

I took a chance seeing that an update installed a new version and it no longer game me the ltdl issue. Must have been a leftover issue with the removal of that package.
