Couldn't play .wav anyway, except for gnome-sound-properties.

"gnome-sound-properties" may play sound events correctly, but if i use any other tool play it by entering it's dir:
debian:~# cd /usr/share/sounds/
debian:/usr/share/sounds# ls
card_shuffle.wav generic.wav login.wav phone.wav startup3.wav
email.wav gtk-events logout.wav question.wav warning.wav
error.wav info.wav panel shutdown1.wav
debian:/usr/share/sounds# mpg321 error.wav

I don't think mpg321 will be able to play WAVs (at least mpg123 won't). As far as the second prob, it sounds like your soundcard is in use. Try checking what processes are running in the background and shutting some down. Also, I'd suggest xmms versus gnome-sound-recorder, because it's a better player and with the numerous output plugins you can use other sound systems (ALSA versus OSS for example) or even other devices (besides the default /dev/dsp). Sometimes sound probs with /dev/dsp are related to permissions, but if you get sounds in Gnome I doubt that's the prob. It's probably just that it's in use by another app or Gnome itself.

firstly thanks your reply.

i recompiled kernel2.6.2 in debian, surely it's included ALSA driver for my card snd_ymfpci.ko, i should choose OSS-compatible option( Do you remove this?) , if not my gnome is mute, even moduld loading is OK, mixer can't open without such device!
i hope my dictionary may pronounce words certainly it includes.
