Could someone recommend essential s/w?
 

Having recently switched to RedHat 8 from the XP platform, I find it a bit wierd not to have the regular tools like Messengers, Download Accelerators and the likes for Linux.

As such I'm gonna go on a download frenzy and try out some applications before sticking to them. This is where I need your help. Could you please suggest stable and robust applications for:
1. Chatting facility [I dont care much about my ICQ contacts. Is there anything through which I can chat with my MSN contacts]
2. Linux Download Accelerators/Resumers.
3. Mp3 Players [Much like Winamp]
4. Image Editing tools [on the lines of Adobe products]

Feel free to add any other essential tools which you think would help an user in the transition process from XP to Linux.
