"Could not download all repository indexes"

When refreshing Update Manager, I'm hit with this:

Quote:

Could not download all repository indexes

The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and ensure the repository address in the preferences is correct.

An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: https://repo.protonvpn.com/debian unstable InRelease: The following signatures were invalid: EXPKEYSIG 71EB474019940E11 Proton Technologies AG <opensource@proton.me> The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 4EDE055B645F044FFailed to fetch https://repo.protonvpn.com/debian/di...able/InRelease The following signatures were invalid: EXPKEYSIG 71EB474019940E11 Proton Technologies AG <opensource@proton.me> The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 4EDE055B645F044FSome index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
What should I do?

Wait?? Check your network?? Message is fairly clear...the repository wasn't updated because it couldn't be reached, which is either a network issue, or their site can be undergoing maintenance. Have you tried just putting the link into a web browser, and seeing what comes up?

Beyond that, we can only guess you're using a Debian based distro...you don't tell us what version/distro you're using, or give us any details.

The error message is saying that the GPG signature of the release file is not valid and could not be verified because the public key is missing.
You can contact ProtonVPN and let them know, or just wait a day or so for them to fix it.

This seems to be an ongoing issue for ProtonVPN. As per this thread, "The simplest way to resolve this is generally to remove ProtonVPN from your source list and re-install ProtonVPN using the steps on their site."
