Copying email between distributions

Hi All,

I've 2 hard disks, on hda I've got Mandrake 10 on hdd I've got Mandrake 10.1

I have all my email on hda, and I want to move it over to the new distruction on hdd.

I've copied /var/mail</user-name> from hda to hdd /var/mail/<same-user-name>.

And new I've a ton of emails I've sent from my account appearing on the new distro on hdd.

I was running an imap server on the old distro on hda - so I could check email from my office.

So my question is - were did all the emails in my imap inbox go ? - are they stored in a different location ? Have I missed something ? Is there another file I need to copy across ?

Thanks guys, I'd appeaciate your help,
Chris.

couldn't you use the same /var partition for each distro? (afaik stuff in /var shouldn't be too specific on distro/setup)

Once I've moved the emails over to the new distro on hdd, I want to fdisk hda.

So when I copied /var/mail/<user name> I didn't get the email in my inbox from my old distro.

My old distro (Mandrake 10) was setup with the default imap server. Does mandrakes default imap server store users emails in a different location ie not /var/mail ?

Does anyone know were ?
