Copy DVDs

Hi. I am planning to buy a DVD-burner. I've heard that you cannot copy some DVDs due to some passwords or something on the DVD. Is that true?

This is true in the Windows world mostly. You may not be able to "copy" some movies, depending on the actual size of the files. In other words an 8-gig movie will not fit on a 4.7- gig DVD. The copyright laws of your country also apply in this matter.

I won't ever copy an 8-gig movie on a 4.7-gig DVD!! So, using a burning application, say K3b, will I be able to "copy" ANY movie? Also, I am not planning to sell them so I don't thing the police will catch me!!!

http://www.dvdshrink.org/

This will install in wine/cxoffice in Linux. It will allow you to make backup copies of your DVDs.
