Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

In the same way you would copy and paste in the same app - highlight text, picture, etc in first app, go to second app and right click and select paste.
Sometimes the mouse part don't work. If you copy something in kmail for instance and want to put it in Mozilla, you can right click and copy in Kmail then goto Mozilla and either middle button click or do ctrl + v to paste.
cut ctrl + x
copy ctrl + c
paste ctrl + v
I hope they will fix this in 9.2. They know the bug is there and are working on it.
no its not just you, cause i to this day cannot figure it out, and just came to the conclusion that you can't in XChat...hopefully someone knows the know how if not then i will continue to believe that you cannot copy/paste in xchat...
It's exactly the same as any other X application. You simply mark the text you want, and then press middle mouse button to paste (if you only have a 2 button mouse, press left and right buttons at once). "
well i think that is referring to cutting from another app and pasting into xchat....which i have no problem doing whatsoever...
well actually they have to be talking about that, cause you can't cut anything from xchat....now to the point of case...i still don't think there is a way to copy text from a window in xchat and paste it elsewhere...
