converting vob to xvid using ffmpeg


hello, does anyone know the command to convert un-encrypted vob's to xvid.
i am at work so i cant try anything now.

i dont think this would work
Code:
ffmpeg -f avi -vcodec xvid -acodec mp3
please let me know if you have nay ideas ?

Actually, you're ok except for leaving out the input and output files.

'ffmpeg -i input.vob -f avi -vcodec xvid -acodec mp3 output.avi'

You can also add other options, of course, such as -b 1000 (video bitrate), -ab 192 (audio bitrate) -s 640x480 (frame size), -aspect 16:9, and so on.

Why not try it? Just let it run for 30 seconds, and check the file being created in another window. If it's not what you expect, try other parameters. A little experimentation will yield a great deal of knowledge and experience.

that is true. i have aix at work so i cant try a lot of stuff from here.

i cant figure a way to ssh around it even by configuring my home ssh server to listen out of port 80 - http goes thru...

i just wanted a little confirmation so i can go home and run it without tinkering too much.
