converting .vob to avi on linux

where can i get software that convert .vob video files to .avi compressed form video format?

I am getting a lot of dependencies error. is there any other software or single package without any dependency requirement

You can also use mencoder, it comes with mplayer.

If you want to sort dependencies, you can use yum for redhat/fedora
