converting ra files to mp3 with single command??


how can i convert a folder real media files to mp3 with single command or a visual interface program??

Well, first of all we need to determine what media programs can handle the files. Since realmedia is a proprietary format, linux support is uneven. Probably your best bet is mplayer. If you can play them there, then it should be a fairly easy job to write a simple "for" loop to convert them all in turn with it (or something that can use it as an input, like transcode).

I don't know if or how well it can handle rm, but there's a nice simple gui program called soundconverter that can take files of one type and convert them to another. The input can be just about anything that will play with gstreamer, but it will only output to a limited selection of mp3, flac, ogg, or wav settings. It will even copy over metadata tags if the files have them.
