Question Converting 8-bit wav to mp3 with Lame?

I am trying to convert 8-bit wav files using lame. Natively lame does not have support for 8-bit wav files, but there is a library out there called libsndfile which can be compiled into lame and can convert 8-bit wav files.

Libsndfile compliles from source with no problem. I then try to compile lame and include libsndfile as the stdin and I get a bunch of errors.

Has anyone had luck compiling libsndfile into lame and if so what version (of lame as well as libsndfile) did you use. Also what switches did you use in the ./configure script.

Thanks for all and any help!
