Convert ogg to mp3 w/ ID Tag???

My car CD player handles mp3 files, but not ogg files. I want to convert many of my ogg files to mp3 format. Unfortunately, all the ways to convert these files strip away the ID tag.

Anybody know of a good way to batch convert ogg to mp3 with the ID tag intact?

If you are an uber 1337 hacker, you could possibly change this script that converts mp3 to ogg to do the reverse..

Can you not burn the OGG files to CD, then rip them back into mp3 from the CD?

You may want to check out a program for your distro called soundconverter. There is another called soundconvert that is different. I've found it very useful in this sort of situation. Note though that converting lossy formats to lossy formats degrades the quality. If you could pull from the original media or some such lossless format instead you'd be in better shape.

You can also use XMMS to write ID3 Tags. Just start XMMS and click the little "I" on the left side of the window.
