convert gif to JPEF

I have a lot of images that I want to convert from GIF format to JPEG format. Is some sort of program exists that can done it automatically?

Or it requires a script?

Usually this will require a program like the Gimp or photoshop, etc to convert. I'm not sure of any command line type tools or other programs that perform this as I would think converting from gif to jpg will lose the quality of the photo/image in most cases.

There's a drawback converting those images as well. As far as I know, jpg does not support transparency. So if you need it (often on webpages) that would not be a good idea. xnview is a viewer/converter, but Gimp would get the job done as previously suggested.

You could use the convert utility in ImageMagick. ImageMagick contain quite a few nifty tools for manipulating images. Personally, I prefer PNG format.
