control backslash in gnome-terminal using vnc
I have Fedora 8 with the latest patches. I find that control-backslash in a gnome-terminal window (running in a vnc session) has no effect (it doesn't send a quit signal.) I'm opening gnome-terminal in a vnc session (displaying on another Fedora 8 system), however the problem is identical if I vnc using only one system. I am using an ssh tunnel when using vnc remotely, but since using it without a tunnel on the local machine produces the same issue, I assume the tunnel is not an issue.
Gnome-terminal outside of vnc does not seem to exhibit this problem (control-backslash works normally.) Xterm running the same programs (even inside a vnc session) also does not exhibit the problem. In all cases, the shell is bash.
This behavior occurs with any program (cat, etc.) The quit signal is not being caught/ignored by the program. The same behavior also seems to occur on some (but not all) RHEL4 systems.
Thanks for any suggestions.
