Connecting to another machine with the program "Talk"

Me and my friend were talking about old instant messaging clients, and he told me about one he used to use called "Talk" for Unix.

apt-get seemed to find it so I installed.

we tried the command

Code:
talk username@hostname
it tried to make a connection but failed. Anyone know how to actually use this program?

You need also to have the talkd (the talk daemon) running, so you can accept connections. It's usually started by inetd or xinetd depending of your distro.
