Connecting a tape drive to HP Z800

Gurus

I have a Z800 workstation to which I would like to attach a legacy tape drive , say a S/E , 8 mm , Exabyte 8505. These new machines have PCI slots of the type PCIe and just one PCI .
I would like to know if the available PCI can be use for connecting a adapter for that purpose .
Also In case that the PCI slot is occupied ,What type of adapter do you recommend for connecting that drive.

Thanks for your help .

Ok this is interesting, very!! Why are you using such hardware ? I believe we have now days way better and cheap ways to deal with data, anyway.

Answering your question, yes that PCI slot would work if what you have is a PCI card to attach to your tape.
Now if you only have one PCI slot available i believe there are some PCI splitters out there, now sure what name people give to it.

Regards !!
