Connect to DAAP(iTunes) server with Audioprogram.
Hello,
There are a lot of good guides to tell you how to make an iTunes music server out of your linuxbox. But what if i want to do it the other way around?
I want to connect with an Mac/Win iTunes computer and play there music.
Running iTunes in Crossover is not an option, i already tried that and is not worth it (so I would not buy Crossover for this function...). In Crossover, iTunes runs very slow, but it CAN connect with the other iTunes servers (DAAP servers).
Some directions i am thinkin' in right now:
- I am looking for a media player that can 'see' the DAAP servers and play there files.
- Software that can scan my network for DAAP servers.
- Software that can list the shared music files from DAAP servers (than make a script that let SMB mount the right files/folders and creates a playlist which is fed to my mediaplayer.)
Got the idea?
Got any idea?
Help would be appreciated.
Bas
ps. DAAP-servers, do they serve the file just as it is or do they process it into some kind of streaming audio while serving?
