Confusion in working on PC regex with /m modifier


How come it cannot work at all on working with the $
Indeed now this very character so confusing if we are working upon PC regex with /m i.e. multi line modifier

How can we differentiate it with Perl scalar variable when it's right off side by side

Please help give so clear but brief complete tutorial
