conflict issues between tzdata and libc6 on ubuntu 8.04

Hi everyone,
Im trying to install flash player on my pc, however when i tried to install it by running the .deb file, it said : Error : Dependancy is not satisfiable: libcurl3 so i downloaded libcurl3 and got the same error just for libc6, so i have downloaded libc6 and attempted to install it, but i get the folloing error "Error: Conflict with the installed package 'tzdata'" and now i have been looking for tz data to try and remove it, with no luck. can someone please guide me on how to install libc6.

Use synaptic by navigating to System/Administration/Synaptic_Package_Manager and select the package you want to install and all dependencies will be taken care of. Or you can do it via command line with a command similar to: "sudo apt-get install the_package_I_want_installed_properly_please". You may be trying to install a wrong version, run command: "apt-get update" first.

One would think, with that many Debian based distributions in your profile you would know this by now.
