There is absolutely no sound on my comp. It is a gateway solo 2150. I try to open the volume control and it says there are no devices then it tell me this:
"Registry is not present or it is corrupted, please update it by running gst-register"
to verify that it isn't a gnome issue, open up a console, and type cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp .
*edit* and type CTRL+C when your done!*/edit*
this is a useful post : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=380278
It wasn't meant to fix it, but to make fellow LQers' life easier when troubleshooting soundcard problems.
This would be your driver: (already loaded) snd_ens1371
The fact that cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp displays a blank line without sound means that the problem is at the kernel/driver level.
It seams that the driver is defective or something. The OSS commercial drivers only work for little time... I don't know what to say, but it looks like google work from now on... sorry about that
