Configuring SLiM

I am using Sabayon 10 and I have replaced the GDM with SLIM in order to save memory. I have enabled the default user login, but the default session is the login shell. I would like it to remember and log me in the DE I used last time. How do I do that?

You need to edit the slim.conf file and your .xinitrc file.

Code:
vim /etc/slim.conf ( as root / sudo)
Then scroll down to the section that shows default user & uncoment & add the name of the user. Then change login_cmd as shown below.

Code:
# default user, leave blank or remove this line
# for avoid pre-loading the username.
default_user User_Name

login_cmd exec /bin/bash -login ~/.xinitrc %session

You then have to make sure your /home/user/.xinitrc file includes this line-->

Code:
exec startxfce4 --with-ck-launch
