configuring gtkpod id3lib error

I downloaded the latest gtkpod (.7 I think), and when I do a ./configure, it gives me:

checking for library containing MP4FileInfo... no
checking for library containing ID3Tag_Link... no
configure: error: id3lib not found

when I run an rpm -qi id3lib:

Name : id3lib Relocations: (not relocateable)
Version : 3.8.3 Vendor: Freshrpms.net
Release : 5.fr Build Date: Thu 30 Oct 2003 10:00:34 AM EST
Install Date: Wed 17 Dec 2003 07:52:33 PM EST Build Host: mach.freshrpms.net
Group : System Environment/Libraries Source RPM: id3lib-3.8.3-5.fr.src.rpm
Size : 3465995 License: LGPL
Signature : DSA/SHA1, Thu 30 Oct 2003 10:24:30 AM EST, Key ID 692ac459e42d547b
Packager : Matthias Saou <matthias.saou@est.une.marmotte.net>
URL : http://id3lib.sourceforge.net/
Summary : A software library for manipulating ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags.
Description :
This package provides a software library for manipulating ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags.
It provides a convenient interface for software developers to include
standards-compliant ID3v1/2 tagging capabilities in their applications.
Features include identification of valid tags, automatic size conversions,
(re)synchronisation of tag frames, seamless tag (de)compression, and optional
padding facilities.

as expected, and when i do an apt-get install id3lib, it says I have the most recent version....
SO, I have id3lib, and the configure proggie can't find it or something. If anyone knows how to solve this, let me know
In the meantime, I'm going to sort through the configure script and see where it's checkign the location of id3lib and whether it matches the actual location...yeah.
Thanks

alright, problem solved. I downloaded the id3lib src package, and compiled and installed it and even though it was the same version and everything, it works now.... odd.
whatever
