Configuring Fvwm

I have a few questions about the Fvwm window manager.

1.) How do I tell which version I have?

2.) How do I change the ugly color of FvwmButtons and FvwmPager?

3.) How do I get my SuSE menu to show up in the Root Menu like in the system default?

4.) How do I use transparency in menus, Pager, Buttons, etc.?

5.) What is the command to run Mozilla Firefox from the Root Menu?

Your post has been up a long time. But in case you haven't figured out some of your questions-
Clicking on the Fvw box in the iconbox [mine defaulted to upper left corner of screen and is 'sticky'] should tell you what version it is.
Also the manpages often will too.

The man pages can tell you how to change the icon and the colors of nearly everything on a screen in Fvwm which is cool and tedious
I think the parts you need[ed] to look at are in the colorset commands for your .fvwmconsole for the 2rc file. That's where you change everything anyway.

In fact the man pages explain the transparency thing too.

The only part I doubt you can do is the root request but I'm too new to be sure.

I realize that in a way the above is not helpful because you have to do the research yourself. But I read through all the man pages [hard tedious really boring] and most of the information you are asking about was there.- there reason I am not able to just flat out answer your question is that almost none of it interested me once I had a handle on understanding it.

For me I like Fvwm because it works not because it looks cool or because I can make it look cool.

Thanks for the reply, I'd pretty much given up on having these answered a while ago...

1.) How do I tell which version I have?

I found this one out.

2.) How do I change the ugly color of FvwmButtons and FvwmPager?

I also found out how to do this one, which I knew when I posted this, but I could never get it to stay the color/colorset I assigned it. So I thought maybe there would be another way.

3.) How do I get my SuSE menu to show up in the Root Menu like in the system default?

Never found this out...

4.) How do I use transparency in menus, Pager, Buttons, etc.?

I found out I can not do "translucency" like in Gentoo, but "transparency" which I find out how to do.

5.) What is the command to run Mozilla Firefox from the Root Menu?

It turns out I only needed to lead it to the exact directory of firefox instead of just using the command: firefox, which didn't exist.

i actually switched from fluxbox to icewm and now fvwm because i like the idea of configuring everything on your own, but the man pages from fvwm are really scary for a newbie like me...

i read somewhere that there are actually sample .fvwm2rc files with screenshots so we can download ones that we like and then use them as a stepping stone towards our perfect desktop...anyone got any pointers?
