configuring automount to mount CD-ROM drives

I want to get my computer to mount the CD-ROM drives automatically, so that I don't have to manually mount the drives every time I change CDs, or unmount to remove the CD. I have been told that the autofs daemon should do this. I have it installed, but have none of the config files that it uses present. I don't know how to configure it for CDROMs, and all the stuff I have pulled up on Google has been for auto-mounting network drives, not CDROMs. Does anyone know of a link to a good FAQ for mounting CDROMs using automount, or can explain it to me?

There's a util that used extensively in Mandrake (although I personally do not like it, and choose to disable it) called Supermount. It works pretty well too.

So there should be no issues with running it in Slack?

I downloaded it, but the filename is called supermount-1.2.7a-2.4.20.patch.gz. Is this a patch to some original app that I need to install first?

Have you done anything to your kernel yet? If not, then get reading! It's a patch to the kernel source - or rather, it is a patch to the 2.4.20 kernel source. The blurb on the website says that it is a 'pseudo filesystem' and filesystems are handled by the kernel...

<edit>
Completely off topic, but I noticed that you have an SBLive 5.1+MP3 (or whatever). Just thought I'd pipe up and say that the SBLiveMP3s do not have any additional hardware over the plain vanilla SBLive - it is all the bundled software. If you feel cheated, then let Creative know.

I was having this problem using Slackware 9 until a little while ago, what your wanting is the AutoFS deamon , it basically works like supermount but it uses some kernel support , tmk at least. check http://linux.kernel.org/pipermail/autofs if you need more help

Check my original post, I said that I had heard of autofs. I've just gotten to the point, though, where I don't care. It's not so much a big deal to type mnt /mnt/cdrom, I even have it aliased in my bashrc.
