configure xrender-0.8.3

hi...when i want to configure xrender-0.8.3 this error appears
checking whether -lc should be explicitly linked in... no
creating libtool
checking for X... no
configure: error: X is required, but it was either disabled or not found.
pleaze help me...thanks
