configure problem with aterm

I have downloaded aterm-0.4.2, extracted it and went to use the ./configure script as it says to do in the install guide but it gave me bad 'src' directory. I opened up the configure script and modified the variable to point directly at the src directory for aterm and yet the problem persists with the following error message:

configure: error: can not find sources in . or ..

I did a search on google and found nothing covering this error, thanks in advance for any tips and guidance.

The path for the src directory that you gave the configure script, did you make sure to add a "/" after it? Otherwise it might be trying to do something like "/usr/binpython", without that slash in the middle. This probably didn't help, sorry, I'm very new to Linux. That was just a little problem that I've encountered.

Just cd into the directory of the source package itself. For example, if the tarball is aterm-0.4.2.tar.gz then after you extract it, cd aterm-0.4.2. Then run ./configure from within that directory. After all, that's where the source is.

Enjoy!
