configure error while installing tar gz file

This occurred while trying to configure and install a new driver (hewlett packard HPLIP to be exact). When I use the "./configure[file name]" command, it begins the process and runs through a couple of pages of script then stops with an error message to the effect that there is "no support for net-snmp". I had just installed net-snmp and the myriad of dependencies so I didn't think I should have a dependency issue (unless the dependency list I had was faulty). What can I try next??

P.S. Suse 9.1 personal distribution, hplip tgz download from HP)

You can try:
Code:
./configure --help
to see the available options. Perhaps you have to add in the ./configure something like:
--with-net-snmp=/path/to/net-snmp
