Actually itt looks like you don't have gcc installed. Try
Code:
rpm -qa gcc*
to find out.

What is the output of...?
Code:
yum search gcc*
(not sure, but RHEL5 should have yum installed, shouldn't it?)
Also what is the output from
Code:
rpm -ql mingw32-gcc

Matched from:
procbench is a multiplatform information tool and CPU benchmark for x86
processors. It tests memory transfer and math capabilities of your x86
processor. Pb_g++ and Pb_gcc programs are also included. They gets the
best GCC optimisation parameters for that CPU (linux only).

Matched from:
ncc is a C source code analyzer which generates program flow and variable
usage information. Using it should be as easy as changing CC=gcc to CC=ncc
in makefiles, and effort has been made to support most common gcc
extensions. ncc has been tested with the sources of the Linux kernel, gtk,
gcc, gdb, bind, mpg123, ncftp, and many other famous projects.

Matched from:
AutoTrace is a program for converting bitmaps to vector graphics. The
aim of the AutoTrace project is the development of a freely-available
application similar to CorelTrace or Adobe Streamline. In some
aspects it is already better. Originally being created as a plugin
for the GIMP, AutoTrace is now a standalone program and can be
compiled on any UNIX platform using GCC.

lapack.i386 3.1.1-1.el5.rf rpmforge
Matched from:
LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) is a standard library for numerical
linear algebra. LAPACK provides routines for solving systems of
simultaneous linear equations, least-squares solutions of linear
systems of equations, eigenvalue problems, and singular value
problems. Associated matrix factorizations (LU, Cholesky, QR, SVD,
Schur, and generalized Schur) and related computations (i.e.,
reordering of Schur factorizations and estimating condition numbers)
are also included. LAPACK can handle dense and banded matrices, but
not general sparse matrices. Similar functionality is provided for
real and complex matrices in both single and double precision. LAPACK
is coded in Fortran77 and built with gcc.
