configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

Hey guys, I'm trying to install libid3tag on OpenSuse 11.1 64bit. However, I keep running into errors. When I try to configure it this is what I get:

jordan@linux-qipx:~/Downloads/libid3tag> ./configure

checking how to run the C preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
See `config.log' for more details.

I've searched on this forum a little bit and I found I need to install a C compiler, I think. I thought I had installed it but maybe not...

Here is the error in the config.log I believe

Code:
Syntax error
configure:3966: /lib/cpp  conftest.c
In file included from /usr/include/bits/posix1_lim.h:153,
                 from /usr/include/limits.h:145,

                 from /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.3/include-fixed/syslimits.h:7,
                 from /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.3/include-fixed/limits.h:11,
                 from conftest.c:12:

You may need to install the kernel headers.

The package name for Suse ( 11.1 ) is

' linux-kernel-headers '

I guess, the command # zypper in linux-kernel-headers
will get you the right one ... there is a source code
package with the exact same name.

gcc, the c compiler is usually installed with no dependencies,
though you most often need some for proper functions.

# zypper in gcc-c++
.. will insure that you get all the files needed for
both c and c++ compiling.
.....
