./configure can never find x ???

every time I run ./configure I get this message:

checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!
[scontrol@localhost superkaramba-0.35]$

what does it mean and what do I do?

Thx in advance

You need to install the X development packages - xlibs-devel or XFree86-devel or whatever they might be called on your distribution.
