compress

What package contains the "compress" command? I am trying to install the new steam client, and it cannot install itself without that command. Thanks a bunch!

Greetings!

When I have a similar problem, I usually start looking at rpmseek. There you can select the option to find a 'File in rpm Package' and enter your program/library/whatever.

In your case I found the extract program in the package ncompress. On the results site you can select your distribution so that it will only packages that are relevant to you.

Good luck!

It could be bzip2 or the original tar using either -g or -j option.
