Compling samba and adding patch

Hi, I found some bug in my current samba, but I use a ready-complied file to run my samba, I am not sure source code is actually needed to recompile it.
Here is the patch i found:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/attachmen...55&action=edit

Here is the ready compiled smbd and nmbd file:
smbd
nmbd

I got both of them from here (scroll to the bottom of that comment):

I have never tried compiling anything, so I have no clue where to start at all. I am not sure how to get the source code (If needed)

Thanks,
Ted

Yes, you need the source to apply the patch. The patch is for version 3.4.X of Samba, the current release of Samba is 3.6.1. After you apply the patch, you will need to compile Samba. Google Samba and see if you can't figure out where to get the source. While you're at the website getting the Samba source, poke around a little and see if you can find the instructions for building Samba from source. If you don't know how to use the patch command to apply a patch, try looking at the patch man-page.
