Question completely lost newbie

I am new to linux and am trying to install realplayer for linux. I also was looking at the game frozen bubble. It said that I would need some things like perl, sdl and gave links. The problem is I have no clue what particular download I need. I am using Mandriva 2006 discovery. I really want to get out of the world acording to gates but right now I can't even figure out how to install a download.

Do you really need realplayer? What are you using it for?

I tried the realplayer because I thought it would be an easy download/install. Is there an application for linux for online viewing of mpeg files? About what versions of perl, and sdl I am lost. I am using the mentioned OS on a AMD 64 system.

if you configure update correctly then you should have current version of everything. the depeendcies will automatically fill in if you install frozen bubble from rpmdrake.

Oh, I see. Online viewing of video files is something I haven't really gotten to in my time with Linux. I just execute them in xmms-mplayer.
