I am a newbie here too, and I would love to know how to get my pc to work again w/o reinstalling linux again.

I changed my inittab thingy to level 3, but now how do I change it back in console mode?

I think I will just forget about updating drivers... I never got that stupid .run program to work.
I am using Linux for a school project and am trying to keep a sense of humor. But seriously, all this work just to update a driver? Here I am trying to learn VIM just to get my pc to boot back up to a graphical interface... my serial modem only worked once in all my delete partition/reinstall... until I put in a winmodem (since removed but still mouse doesn't work, maybe next reload it will work again...)

Didn't they work this stuff out in DOS ten years ago?

Thanks for any help and please excuse the rant, its been a frustrating challenge...

Once you login in non-graphical mode type startx to get back into a gui. From there you seem to be familiar enough to get it back.

If not, let me know.
