Compiz Fusion not Quite Starting

I am using a legacy computer a DELL Petium 4 desktop. I upgraded Mint Elyssa, and it got a legacy driver from the company that makes the video cards, there seemed to be some problems after that, I restarted. I chose custom settings, and compiz, it accepted that, dot in the box, but it did not take effect. I would really be happy with my computer if I could get Compiz going. My video card is a NVIDIA.

What NVIDIA card do you have? If you can, try downloading the drivers from NVIDIA's website for your appropriate chipset and run the installer (it should come in a *.run file; you'll need to shut down X and drop to text mode to run it). The only negative thing about this is that you'll need to re-run the installer every time you upgrade the kernel so that it can build a new kernel module.
