Compiz Fusion causes white screen on Fedora 12
I just did a clean installation of Fedora 12 on my Intel Core2 Duo system. I installed packages to use compiz fusion. When I select the Compiz Fusion Icon option from the System Tools menu, my screen goes white, and I have to SSH into the system and reboot it.
What is needed so I can get Compiz Fusion working properly on this system? |
I'm not 100% sure about this (it's been a while since I used Fedora), but it may be a mismatch between kernel and video driver versions. I seem to recall running into problems like this when I let an update proceed without checking it first. There always seemed to be a lag between a kernel upgrade and the video upgrade that goes with it.
I'm willing to bet that it will sort itself out with the next upgrade run (usually a day or two, perhaps less). |
The problem has been resolved. It turns out that I did not have the nVidia driver I needed for graphic adapter to work properly. Once that was installed I was able to get Compiz Fusion to work properly.
